Situated on the edge of the Orakei basin, the grounds of this historic homestead has evolved over the years. Numerous owners have developed and changed areas making my job a challenge to tie everything together. One key area in the centre of the rear section was an unsightly retaining wall that needed hiding. The solution was to build a tiered waterfall and two ponds. The client loved old gnarly stone in-keeping with the heritage of the area. We sourced old moss covered boulders and flat weathered stone for the waterfall. The aim was to make the pond look 100 years old. This was no mean feat! As the landscape contractor so profoundly stated. "Nature had millions of years, we only have 4 weeks".
